Case Study: Field Orthopaedics - Surgery Animation
In the summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to work with Nanobot Medical. We created an animation of surgical technique using the Field Orthopaedics company's products.
Hire Me
We needed to create an engaging video for the Field Orthopaedics, to explain surgical technique features using their implants.
Project Requirements
- Scientific and eye-catching animation.
- Audience: Surgical centers and surgeons.
- 196 seconds of animation.
- The deadline 8 weeks.
Project Overview
We need to show the Dorsal Approach using the company's products. The animation consisted of 16 scenes. The video starts from hand view with translucent nerves to ensuring an accurate incision. The next step is to cut the skin, fat, joint capsule and remove the affected bone. Then, using the company's instruments, the correct holes are made in which the implants are subsequently installed and the patient's hand will be able to function normally.
The Challenge
The project is full of complex animations, and every step has to be precise. A big challenge was the simulation of ropes, as this is the only way to realistically show the necessary surgical technique.
The Approach & Solution
For the skin, fat and capsule incision I used my custom rig than one layer drives anothers which saved me a lot of time if I had to do it by hand for each layer. New Cinema 4D simulation engine allows me not to wait for the result for hours, but to quickly go through different settings in search of the best one.
